Gorakhpur, or Gorakshpur is a large city located in eastern Uttar Pradesh state in India near the border with Nepal. It is the administrative headquarters of Gorakhpur District & Division.

The geographical shape of Gorakhpur City resembles a bowl. It is surrounded on three sides by the river, and small streams. Rapti River guards the west of the city, while Sal Forests surround the east, which is home to Vinod van, a popular tourist attraction. South has a large lake called Ramgarh Taal, while north is the base of the city’s development.
